I've written about anchor text and links from different IP addresses. Well by leaving comments on different blogs you can get both. Use a name that has one or more of your keywords and the URL for your site... The problem is that too many spammers are doing this. You may have noticed the spam comments on this blog. I delete them as fast as I can, but I've been getting thousands of them and I can't keep up. I spend more time deleting comments than writing posts...
Anyway, bear with me when you see bad comments. I'm going to delete them and do something to stop them.
Posted by James Trotta at July 26, 2004 3:11 PMyou want to be careful with telling people to place their keywords in the link text of comments because sometimes that is not viewed nicely by the blog owner.
I usually delink any keyword laden post that lands on my blogs unless I know the person who left it.
Posted by: aaron wall at August 17, 2004 11:42 PMMy memory may be playing tricks on me, but I think if I look back at some old comments, I'll find one on this blog from someone named "SEO book"...
Bur seriously, my intial advice was to pick a name like "vocabulary guru" or something if you ahve a vocabulary site. Just like I sometimes write "ESL teacher" or "SEO student". These phrases describe me fairly and have a keyword...
There's actually some automated program running around now targeting wordpress blogs with 4 - 5 anchor text laden keyword phrases. I've been hit about 20 times in the last month with obvious comment spam, mostly by Online Pharmacies and the previously mentioned SEO Book. I've gone to complete comment moderation so this isn't a issue anymore.
