We're used to waiting 4+ months for Google PR updates so the last one seemed a bit ahead of schedule. Despite adding at least 100 links (since the last PR update) I was unable to maintain my PR 7 on ESL go. otherwise nothing much seems to have changed despite my link building efforts. since one of the new links is from a PR 7 page and since there are many new (less powerful) links I'm surprised that the toolbar shows 6 rather than the old 7 (which was nice to look at).
Someone claiming to be Jarrod Hunt from textlinkbrokers.com left a nasty little comment on my online advertising blog:
And this is why you are broke with a blog that has no readers and why we have 40 people working for us and over 4000 active clients, including several Fortune 500 companies and 2 of the top 10 internet retailers. What struck me first is the lack of professionalism displayed by the writer. Am I to believe that the author of this comment does business with fortune 500 companies? The sort of bragging seen here, not to mention the lame insults, remind me more of middle school than a business context. You should spend less time criticizing other people businesses and more time thinking about your own.
And just so your information is correct. We dont charge to monitor your links until after 2 years.
I guess my last responce to you also went unheard as well, since you still think that we only pay $5 per link. We only pay $5 per link for low quality sites like the one you submitted to us.
Get over it dude.
Another thing that struck me is that the author is criticizing my online advertising blog though he himself seems to be a reader. I mean he did leave a comment on my site. Also, the comment about my being broke struck me as odd. I haven't argued about personal wealth since a boy named Alex told me in 4th grade that his family was richer than my family.
The other very interesting thing is the "low quality" remark regarding the site I submitted to textlinkbrokers.com. First it tells me that textlinkbrokers.com is buying links on low quality sites for 5.00 and charging people good money for these low quality links. After all, they do offer 5.00 each for low quality links.
Lastly, I wonder if this Jarrod Hunt actually remembers the emails I sent him regarding sites where I might place text links. At the time I mentioned ESL go and Jtrotta.com, both of which have lots of link popularity and traffic. If a PR 7 with over 1,000 uniques on a bad day is "low quality"...
Needless to say I didn't take them up on their generous offer to pay 5.00 for a permanent link on either of these sites. Nor am I likely to send these highly professional text link brokers who use schoolyard insults any more letters of inquiry...
I recently paid around 30.00/site (there was a volume discount) to have 11 sites submitted to 100 free web directories each. I'm not keeping track of exactly how many new links I end up with, but my inbox is full of approval letters so I know this was worthwhile. Free web directories are a very cheap way to get lots of inbound one way links (these were all non-reciprocal directories) but doing the submissions personally is too time intensive.
I appreciate the recent comments about the coop and Yahoo. So far there is no new evidence supporting my theory that the coop can be used to ban a competitor's site. A new theory is that during the recent Yahoo update they decided to do some summer cleaning and targeted sites with more coop links than normal links. If this is the case, one needs to wonder what will happen during the next Yahoo update. Will more coop sites be penalized?
I had been writing for a couple of months about how the Digital Point Link coop turned my travel blog into my best performing site in terms of income by pushing me to #1 ranks in Yahoo for some important keywords.
The recent Yahoo update has left many webmasters scratching their heads since numerous sites with coop weight pointing at them no longer apper in results at all. Naturally this is seens as potentially catastrophic for Yahoo since anyone can point their coop weight at a competitor to see them removed entirely from Yahoo results.
There are several experiemnts going on right now. So far one established charity site is gone from Yahoo! after Shawn at DP chose to help it as an experiment. My travel blog had no DP ads on it. Only incoming coop links. Clearly yahoo will need to change something since they have no way of determining who is pointing coop weight at a site. That has always been why search engines don't penalize webmasters for inciming links. They don't want site's competitors manipulating their results. It seems that Yahoo has left themselves vulnerable to just that...
