Never register a domain with Registerfly.com

It seems like I spend all my energy on registerfly.com these days.

Yesterday after a 20 minut hold I got someone on the phone who was able to renew 4 of the 5 domains I needed to renew. Because Registerfly is what it is, the customer service rep said the 5th domain had to be renewed over the phone the next day (today).

It seemed pretty stupid, but I expect nothing more from these guys. I'm on hold with them now. This is the second time I've called today because Registerfly must have learned customer service skills from America's Immigratio & Naturalization Service. They both hang up on you after you've been holding a long time.

Normally I'd try some other time, but since I can only renew last second (I had to wait until the domain was about to expire), my site will go down if I don't get through today.

Hmmm. Just got hung up on a second time. Just take my advice and never use registerfly.com for anything. Next to US Immigration, no organization has ever screwed me over as much as Registerfly has been and is doing.

Healthspan Blog

My new blog, Healthspan Blog is doing fairly well for a few not too competitive keywords in all the major search engines. There are a lot of health sites out there that need to rank well in order to bring in the big money. I suppose I would like healthspan blog to rank well as well.

I'm hoping that with specific titles like Where to buy Cordyceps sinensis strain Cs-4, I'll get the attention of people searching for specific health realted information, and hopefully some will be bloggers with a link for me.

I often see webmaster on various forums advising people to publish great content and let links develop naturally. I hope Healthspan Blog benefits from that, but it doesn't usually work in my opinion. I've got a couple of new sites (3 months old or so) with amazing content and no links to show for it.

It seems like all the high ranking sites are out there to make money and won't be linking to me unless I pay. University sites might be an exception, but good luck finding one that is still updated. Most of the ones I've come across haven't been updated in years and have lots of broken links to show for it.

Registerfly again

You may be tired of hearing me complain about Registerfly, but it's hard to stop. I'm calling from Korea to try to renew my domain names because everytime I try to renew online I get an email that my transfer request has been cancelled.

Anyway, I've been on hold for 15 minutes so far...

I tried transferring a bunch of domains to domainsite.com, but somehow the transfer never went through. It was weird because the domainsite.com site said the losing registrar was ENOM when it should have said Registerfly. Now the domains expire so soon that I have to renew with Registerfly.

Addition: If I renew now, it will take 5 days and my site will be down for a couple of days. The only way to avoid downtime is to call in my renewal request 24 hours before the domain expires. In that case, the renewal process won't take 5 days so my site won't go down. What kind of craziness is this?

Submitting articles for new Healthspan Blog

I recently tried a little article submission experiment on my new Healthspan Blog. Titled "Advice for men who want to look ripped" (yes, I also published it on my blog) the article was on weight lifting, cardio, diet, and muscle definition.

The article was submitted to 250 article sites by someone over at DP. On April 25, 2006 I started getting approval notices and I started counting backlinks. It didn't take long. I've gotten 1 backlink from the articles this week.

It seems that for articles to be effective, you need to steer clear of the general article sites. Write unique articles specifically for high quality (and high traffic sites) in your field.
